Day 27

Can't believe it's Monday already. This weekend went really well - we had a family get together at my cousins for Halloween so that all the kids/grand-kids in the family could trick-or-treat together. I ate before going so that I would not be tempted by all the boxes of pizza (they looked really good too).

Somehow I've managed to really injure my hip - I stayed and passed out candy to the trick-or-treaters while the kids went around the neighborhood because I could not walk on Friday. Saturday we ran some errands and my daughter helped me do yard work for about 2 hours (actually she ran around and pretended to help, but did like digging holes for the bulbs); however, afterward I was in sever pain again. I actually went and dug out an old bottle from last year for hydrocodine because the pain was so bad.

For anyone who knows me, I have a higher threshold for pain than most people, so if it's painful for me, it's bad. My right hip has throbbed off an on for the past 5 years and pops regularly. I've never gone to the doctor about it because I'll get the usual "lose weight and it will stop" or "we can't do anything until you get the weight off of it". Well, suddenly my right hip pain has ceased, and now I have this piercing pain in my left hip joint that's taken it's place and is 10 times worse. I should be grateful that both are not hurting at the same time - I don't see how I'd be able to walk if that were the case.

Sunday, when I got up the scale read 277. I worked in the yard for 2 more hours, re-built a section of our retaining wall in the back (each stone weighed 25 pounds), and had a volleyball game that night. I stayed on plan all weekend, did not cheat, ton's of water, exercise - and this morning the wretched scale said 279. I guess that's what I get for weighing in every day.

My hip was just as painful yesterday, and again this morning. For some reason it does not hurt, or stops hurting if I squat - so I don't imagine it's a fracture or anything severe. If it does not get any better by the end of the week, I'll go see my doctor and see what he recommends.
