Day 59

TGIF it's Friday.

On Monday I stopped by the gym on the way home from work, and got a wild hair to take one of their classes. Just wanted to change up the routine and I was already too cold to consider going into the pool.

I arrived just in time for an Abs aerobic class to start. One of the ladies saw that I was new to the class and was very helpful - said the class was hard, but fun. Abs workout, yeah right, more like an ass workout. The class consisted of 60 minutes of lunges, squats, etc. with weights balanced on your shoulders holding you down and the occasional arm lifts.

I, of course, was the biggest person in the room, but was determined to not look like a complete lush... squats and lunges are the one exercise I despise, so this class was a little shocker.

15 minutes in I was drenched in sweat and could not feel my feet. 30 minutes in, I could barely breathe. Luckily the last 15 minutes of class was more of a cool down, but consisted of lying on a mat and raising your ass in the air - which I still cannot physically do, so I mimicked their motions and finally got my breath back.

That night I could barely move - the next morning I could not even squat down to sit on the toilet. It's taken me 3 days to actually be able to sit again without falling into a chair. My butt muscles were so sore it hurt to sit - and when my husband grabbed my butt I screamed in pain.

They offer the same class on Thursday nights. I got to the gym last night, stood at the door of the class for about 5 minutes and decided I could not handle another 3 days of pain like before. Good class, major workout, I'm just not quite ready yet. I ended up going to the treadmill and jogging for 15 minuets and then did the ski machine for 20. However, even with that, I did not sweat as much as I would have if I'd gone to the class.

I think I'll try it again next week - need to build up my courage again. They offer a Salsa aerobic class - I may try that, it does not include weights or lunges.
